Angelus ad pastores ait: annuntio vobis gaudium magnum, quia natus est vobis hodie Salvator mundi.' Alleluia The angel said to the shepherds: I bring you tidings of great joy for, the Savior of the world has been born to you this day. Alleluia
2.
O magnum mysterium Et admirabile sacramentum Ut animalia viderent Dominum natum Jacentem in praesepio! Beata Virgo, cujus viscera Meruerunt portare Dominum Christum Alleluia O great mystery, and wonderful sacrament, that animals should see the newborn Lord, lying in a manger! O blessed virgin, whose womb was worthy to bear the Lord Jesus Christ. Alleluia!
3.
Hodie Christus natus est Hodie Salvator apparuit, Hodie in terra canunt angeli, Laetantur archangeli, Hodie exultant justi, dicentes: Gloria in excelsis Deo, Et in terra pax hominibus bonae voluntatis. Christ is born to us today; the Saviour has appeared; angels sing on earth today, archangels rejoice, today the righteous exult, saying: Glory to God most high, and peace on earth to those of good will.
4.
gloria 01:23
Gloria Patri et Filio et Spiritui Sancto Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
5.
sicut erat 00:55
Sicut erat in principio, et nunc, et semper, et in sæcula sæculorum. Amen. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, without end. Amen.

about

A collection of Venetian Renaissance Christmas motets arranged for the cello. The original choral works were a celebration and preparation for Christmas and sung at mass at St. Mark's church in Venice. The motets concern Angels and Shepherds, the finale of the Magnificat cycle, and O, Magnum Mysterium - all celebrating the Mystery of God made flesh on Earth. Truly, Peace on Earth and Good Will to Men, He has come not to condemn us but to save us from our sins! Amen
